Reaching seven years injury-free is no easy feat.

TRIR, therefore, is a relatively simple equation. You multiply the number of total recordable incidents by 200,000. This figure, 200,000, represents the total number of hours that 100 workers log in a year. In other words, it is the sum of 100 employees working 40 hours a week for 50 weeks. Divide that number by the total number of hours worked by all employees in that year, hence the “recordable incident” part of the term, to determine incident frequency.
(Total recordable incidents x 200,000) / Total hours worked = TRIR
